Uchechi Egeonuigwe Named Next Gen Emerging Leader by Corporate Counsel Women of Color

Uchechi Egeonuigwe, a lawyer in Brown Rudnick’s Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Practice Group, has been recognized as one of Corporate Counsel Women of Color’s (CCWC) Next Gen Emerging Leaders. The award recognizes millennial legal professionals who stand out because of their talent, drive, and dedication in serving their community.
In her practice, Uchechi represents creditor groups, investors, equity holders, and individual borrowers in matters related to restructuring stressed and distressed companies. Deeply committed to transforming the legal profession and creating opportunities for traditionally underrepresented lawyers and students, Uchechi has recently produced and moderated educational programs, including: "The Business Case: Game-Changing Benefits of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion," presented by American Bankruptcy Institute and “Pathways to the Bankruptcy Bench,” presented by American Bar Association and American Bankruptcy Institute. Uchechi has been recognized by several publications and organizations including the New York Law Journal as a 2021 Rising Star, the American Bar Association as a 2021 “On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyer,” and The Best Lawyers in America© as a 2022 “One to Watch” for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law. Uchechi will also be a featured speaker at the upcoming National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 9, 2021.
Formed in 2004, CCWC is a not-for-profit 4,500 member organization of women attorneys of color who serve as general counsel, assistant general counsel, corporate counsel, in-house legal counsel, and other capacities for Fortune 1000 companies, Forbes 2000 companies, not-for-profit corporations, and other entities in the US and abroad. The organization’s mission is to provide a support network to in-house women of color, facilitate networking around the nation and abroad, and promote all aspects of global diversity in the legal profession and workplace.
