LONDON, 15 September 2020:

Brown Rudnick has been shortlisted for Transatlantic Corporate Team of the Year in The Lawyer Awards 2021 for the team’s role advising on one of the first ever US-style preferred share PIPE deals for UK listed company, Victoria PLC.

The Lawyer Awards celebrate legal excellence in Europe and the Brown Rudnick submission highlighting the team’s role in the Victoria PIPE deal was one of more than 500 entries this year. Within the Transatlantic Corporate Team of the Year category, judges look for legal excellence and innovation, evidence of teamwork to overcome difficult challenges and a strong outcome for the client.

Lena Hodge, Corporate Partner at Brown Rudnick, said: “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for the Lawyer’s Transatlantic Corporate Team of the Year award, a hard-fought category in a bumper year of deal activity. This deal was one of several that we completed for our fantastic client, Victoria plc, which is led by an ambitious and truly innovative management team.”

Geoff Wilding, Executive Chairman, Victoria PLC, said: “The team at Brown Rudnick was instrumental in getting these deals done. There aren’t many City law firms that over-deliver on their promises, but Lena Hodge and her team assiduously guided us every step of the way, to the benefit of all parties. The team are a delight to work with, not just because they are responsive and efficient, but because they understand the dynamics between the different parties and each of their interests and concerns and then factor it all in to deliver creative solutions to problems before they arise. They know the law, they understand the markets, and they do difficult things well. They are definitely more deal-maker than lawyer, and it is this quality too that sets them apart from the pack.”

Lena Hodge has advised Victoria since 2012 on several key transactions to support Victoria’s mission to transform the business through innovation and acquisition. Victoria is an international manufacturer and distributor of innovative flooring products which has been listed on AIM since 2013. The deal team was led by Lena and included Charlotte Møller, Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring Partner, Tracy Fisher, Tax Partner, and Nick Davies, Associate.
