Mark S. Baldwin and Dylan P. Kletter, Partners in Brown Rudnick’s Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group, were awarded the Litigation Department of the Year in the Business/Commercial Litigation category at the Connecticut Law Tribune’s 2021 Connecticut Legal Awards virtual gala on May 12th.
An American Lawyer publication, the Connecticut Law Tribune holds the annual Connecticut Legal Awards to recognize “attorneys and judges who have made a remarkable difference in the legal profession in Connecticut in shaping the law, achieving outsized results for their clients, being an outstanding jurist, or assisting those in need of legal services.” The Litigation Department of the Year contest winners are business and commercial litigation lawyers behind the biggest litigation wins.
Based in Brown Rudnick’s Hartford Office, Mark and Dylan were honored for their market-leading work successfully litigating and resolving high-stakes commercial litigation disputes, including litigating major post-closing M&A disputes related to fraud, breach of contract, indemnity issues, tax refunds, earn-outs, working capital adjustments, deferred compensation, representations and warranties insurance policies, and significant portfolio company related litigation.
Mark and Dylan routinely litigate on behalf of or against a wide range of market participants, including prominent private equity firms, as well as on behalf of or against large corporations. An example of their work includes their representation of PAE Holding Corporation (“PAE”), a major government contracting firm headquartered in Virginia, in the acquisition of FCi Federal Inc., another government contracting entity with significant ties to the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The litigators were retained by PAE to investigate whether it had claims against the seller and its owner related to the transaction. After filing suit, Brown Rudnick was able to achieve a confidential settlement.
Mark and Dylan co-lead Brown Rudnick’s M&A and Private Equity litigation team, which has a proven track record of delivering successful results to top-tier private equity firms, strategic acquirers, family offices, and similar investors in complex domestic and international disputes.
