David Molton, Brown Rudnick Partner and Chair of Cross-Border, Mass Tort, and Restructuring Litigation, was a featured speaker on “The Opioid Crisis” panel during the American Bankruptcy Institute’s (ABI) New York City Bankruptcy Conference in May 2021. The event spotlighted leading insolvency and restructuring professionals navigating the foreseeable challenges of today’s insolvency environment.

During the conference, David discussed some the main ingredients in opioid bankruptcies. David noted that an overriding issue for the governments involved in these cases is what happens to the money, that comes out of these bankruptcies, which are directed toward government entities and their claims. David focuses his practice in complex financial, commercial, and mass tort litigation matters. David is representing governmental plaintiffs ad hoc committees in the bankruptcy cases of Purdue Pharmaceuticals and Mallinckrodt plc, among many other matters.

ABI is the largest multidisciplinary, nonpartisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency. ABI was founded in 1982 to provide Congress and the public with unbiased analysis of bankruptcy issues.
