Biography

Tony Horspool is a partner in the Firm's Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Practice Group. His practice encompasses high-end restructurings and special situations work across a wide range of sectors including real estate, retail, oil and gas, housebuilders, manufacturers and insurance, as well as care homes, hospitals, and gaming. Tony’s vast experience and knowledge lies in syndicated loans, NY-law governed high-yield bonds, securitizations, direct lending, specialty lending, and distressed M&A. He has worked across numerous jurisdictions including the EU, Hong Kong, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, and South Africa.

With over 20 years of experience in the insolvency field, Tony has acted on many of the highest profile and complex restructuring deals in the market, including most recently the restructurings of GHG, Steinhoff and Bartec, and the sale of Uro Property Holdings SOCIMI.

Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Tony was a partner at a preeminent global law firm where he founded the special situations team in London.

Acting for acquirers of portfolios including corporate loans from Lloyds and Credit Suisse.

Acting for acquirers of distressed assets including Pendragon, McCarthy & Stone, Avant Homes, NHP.

Acting for holders of claims in formal insolvency proceedings including Lehman and OW Bunker.

Acting for facility/security agents on restructurings including Abengoa and Fairhold.

Acting for providers of rescue finance to companies in distress including Scholz, Bartec, Steinhoff.

Acting for parties in litigation connected with insolvencies and restructurings including LBIE, Apcoa, NHP, Fairhold, Four Seasons.
