Litigation & Arbitration
Gerald Byrne is counsel in the Firm's Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group.
He has extensive commercial and financial services litigation experience dealing with large-scale, complex, and multi-jurisdictional disputes. He has worked on a variety of litigation and arbitration matters in the U.K., Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, the BVI, and Grand Cayman.
Gerald also has experience in construction, defamation, and regulatory disputes. He has a broad background in extensive legal research and trial preparation.
Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Gerald qualified in Dublin and worked in the London office of a major global law firm.
Awards

Representation
Represented a fund manager regarding a number of related disputes arising out of the breakdown of a partnership. Parts of the related disputes have been heard in the Privy Council, the BVI courts, and in arbitration proceedings.
Represented a telecommunications company in the High Court regarding a breach of warranty claim relating to management accounts.
Represented a leading Middle Eastern investment manager in the defense of a claim for fraud, breach of contract, and negligence in the Cayman Grand Court and Court of Appeal.
Represented a multi-national bank regarding allegations of Libor fixing by its employees.
Represented a major building supplier and quarrying company in the defense of claims that oxidizing pyrite contained in its materials caused damage to numerous buildings including three housing estates, a bus depot, and a youth club. These cases occupied more than 200 days in the Irish High Court.
Represented high-net-worth investors in a tax incentive scheme regarding a dispute arising from their exit from the structure.
Represented a large well-known airline in a defamation action in the Irish High Court.
