Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring
Clare-Jane Christopher is counsel in the Firm's Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Practice Group. She advises administrators, liquidators, receivers, financial institutions, corporates and private equity investors in connection with all aspects of distressed real estate matters.
Clare advises on disposals and acquisitions of distressed real estate, asset management, and in connection with real estate elements of company voluntary arrangements. She is experienced in dealing with a broad range of commercial property and complex real estate transactions to include multi-let investment properties, shopping centers and mixed-used sites, retail premises, offices, apartment blocks, warehouses, student accommodation and high-value residential disposals.
Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Clare was a Legal Director for a major international law firm handling distressed real estate matters.
In recent years, Clare has worked on the following matters:
Leading a team of lawyers dealing with the real estate portfolio in the administration and subsequent liquidation of one of the U.K.’s largest retailers.
Advising administrators of a major clothing retailer on the real estate aspects of the business whilst trading in administration and on its subsequent sale.
Advised in relation to the administration of a major discount retailer dealing with the company’s property portfolio of over 300 retail stores to include disposals of stores and the head office and distribution center.
Advised administrators of a real estate development company in respect of the asset management and sale of two multi-let apartment blocks.
Acting for administrators of a group of department stores in respect of a variety of real estate matters during the administration.
Advising administrators in connection with the disposal of eight student accommodation blocks.
Acting for administrators of a U.K.-based company which owned film studios to include temporary lettings to film and media businesses for the use of the studios before concluding a sale.
Advised administrators of a prestigious hotel and spa complex.
Acting for administrators appointed over property holding companies owning office and mixed-use assets throughout the North of England, dealing with asset management issues prior to completing sales of the properties including the sale of a landmark mixed-use site.
Advised a U.K.-based retailer, and a casual dining business on the property elements of their successful CVA proposals.
Advised joint fixed charge receivers appointed over a shopping center and a multi-let leisure park, dealing with asset management matters and the sale of the sites.
Part of a team acting for a national financial institution on a substantial property portfolio sale.
Acting for a major clearing bank providing finance on a sale and leaseback of a hospitality and leisure development.
