AREA OF PRACTICE
Alessandra Messing is a senior attorney in Brown Rudnick's IP Litigation Group. Alessandra focuses her practice on patent litigation in the Federal district and appellate courts and the International Trade Commission. She also has experience with Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings. Alessandra has extensive experience litigating in Federal courts throughout the country including many of the most popular districts for patent litigation in Texas, Delaware, California, and Florida. Alessandra handles all aspects of patent litigation including, strategic analysis of claims and defenses, case management, fact and expert discovery, depositions, Markman hearings including oral argument, all forms of motion practice, trial, post-trial proceedings, and appeals. She has been recognized as a 2017-2020 "Rising Star" in Intellectual Property Litigation by Super Lawyers Magazine.
Alessandra has taken an active role in the analysis of economic issues involved in patent litigation proceedings, including damages and the ITC's domestic industry requirement. She has successfully represented clients in a wide range of industries, including mechanical and consumer products, power tools, manufacturing, automotive parts, apparel, smartphone hardware and software, smart speakers, LED displays, networking, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals. Alessandra holds a B.S. Biochemistry, magna cum laude, from Northeastern University.
Alessandra is a co-chair of the Brown Rudnick New York Women's Initiative, which is focused on strengthening internal and external communities and advancing the professional development of women attorneys within the firm. Alessandra is also the 2020 recipient of Brown Rudnick's Ritvo Award for sustained commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive workplace environment for all Brown Rudnick lawyers and staff.
