London partner Didier Bruère-Dawson was interviewed by French Newspaper L’Opinion about a major court precedent which occurred on Friday, May 22nd at PARIS Court. The main French insurer (AXA) was condemned to cover the operating losses of a major restaurant chain arising from its shutdown during the outbreak.

Didier explains that this decision is a major hurdle for all insurers and beyond the specific contracts. It could have a domino effect, because the judge ruled that as far as the outbreak risk was not expressly excluded from insurance coverage, it must be covered.
