Brown Rudnick assists clients in matters involving entities in Eastern Europe, Russia, and countries of the former USSR. Our experience covers a range of issues such as complex litigation and arbitration; cross-border joint ventures, licensing and contract matters; financings; and commercial projects.
We have assisted clients in a range of strategic growth initiatives, helping, for example, to expand business operations through venture capital investments (for both investors and for portfolio companies). Our role has also included acting for companies in the cross-border sale of business units, negotiating complex joint ventures, and acting as lender's counsel in both secured and unsecured term loan facilities. This work has encompassed multiple industries and jurisdictions.
Our lawyers have acted for companies investing in Russia and many Russian and CIS businesses, particularly in relation to shareholder disputes and related injunction proceedings. Representation in these cases have involved obtaining injunctive relief in numerous offshore jurisdictions in support of arbitration proceedings before the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). Our lawyers also have experience of the court procedures and arbitration codes in the Russian courts and across other CIS states.
