Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Grant Supports Round Table, Inc.’s After-School Tutoring Program for South Boston Teens
Boston, MA, March 23, 2016 – The Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Corp., a nonprofit, tax-exempt entity established by attorneys from the law firm of Brown Rudnick LLP, awarded a Community Grant to Round Table, Inc. in Boston, MA. The grant will be used to purchase Windows-based computers for an after-school tutoring program for teens. Round Table, Inc. is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that serves the low-income and at-risk youth of South Boston through programs aimed at preventing alcohol and substance abuse in teenagers.
Grant applicant, Kevin O’Sullivan, said, “Many students in our area do not have working computers, printers or access to the internet in their homes for school projects and homework assignments. Thanks to the Foundation grant, these teens will have the access to technology they need for homework and supplemental learning assignments.”
Al Wallis, Executive Director of the Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Corp, said, “We are pleased to support Round Table, Inc., as they fill a crucial educational need in the South Boston community. It is important for youth to have a safe space where they can go to learn, explore and grow with accessibility to the internet.”
Created to support front-line educators who often do not have a voice in funding decisions, the Community Grants subsidize small, concrete projects, which will improve inner-city education within Boston, Hartford, London, Orange County, Providence, New York, or Washington DC within the coming year. The Foundation will generally consider grant applications monthly and award grants in an amount totaling not more than $2000 in any one month. The grant applications and an explanation of the program can be found at http://www.brownrudnickcenter.com/foundation/community-grant.
