The firm's Technology and Innovation Group based in London has prepared a summary of the main tenets of the General Data Protection Regulation which is in force throughout the European Union and, importantly, also applies to certain types of processing which occurs outside the European Union. This law has had a significant effect on the ways businesses and others process data from which individuals can be identified and continues to do so as advances in technology provide innovative ways in which to use and abuse this data.

This summary sets out in an easy to read way the approach that the regulation takes to the processing of data - what is allowed and what obligations are placed on the entity processing the data - and, crucially, the importance of not only complying with the law but being able to show that you have done so and in a transparent manner.
